Summer Scrooge

This story starts, of course, with my acute hatred for something.

Summer.

Not gonna lie. It's one of my least favorite thing ever. I hate it almost as much as I hate overly enthusiastic college a Capella groups. And that is a lot of hate.

Aaaaanyway, back to what I was saying. Summer sucks. Especially in the western USA when you live in the middle of a desert and feel like you are being roasted alive when you walk outside.

But after moving to NYC for the summer I've experienced a different sort of misery when it comes to summer.

It all started when I walked over a metal grate on the sidewalk, and I was greeted with a burst of hot stench.

(zooming in might not work, I'm working on getting these the right size)

Uh...

Having spent some time in DC last summer, I can attest that YES THE STENCH DOES EXIST.

GREAT post. I'd recommend avoiding Russia in the summer. I love Russia and the Russian people, but it can smell like an awful mix of BO, cat pee, cigarette smoke, factory smoke, more BO, beer, and burning garbage. and more cat pee.

I rode the bus up there from Northern Virginia and had to walk to my hotel. I was afraid to set my suitcase down because every sidewalk that met a wall and every elevator smelled like someone mistook it for their bathroom.

This was hilarious! you should totally make a printed graphic novel about your life like True Story Swear to God - it'd be EPIC!

HAHA! I loved the a Capella group. That guy you killed looks very similar to a certain lead singer from a certain famous Provo group. Coincidence? I think not..

I went to New York for the first time a few months ago. I remember thinking the whole place reeked of cigarette smoke and bad attitude...except for those steaming manhole covers, they pretty much smelled exactly like what you described.

Oh my goodness. I am so so glad that someone else identifies with my intense hatred of a capella groups, and my slightly less intense hatred of summer. As far as a capella goes, I think it's a cop out for real feeling in music, just a vehicle for obnoxious covers. Ugh.

So funny! I hate summer here in Louisiana because even our mosquitoes carry bug spray.
